Why I should be unbanned: I did not fail roleplay as claimed. In this incident, we were dealing with a highly volatile hostage situation. I had two other RCSO units with me, but they provided limited assistance. As I attempted to negotiate with the subject, he became increasingly erratic and aggressive, repeatedly threatening to kill the hostage. Given the dire circumstances and the failure of negotiations, I decided to enter the house and use lethal force to resolve the situation.
The video clip shows me entering the house and neutralizing the hostage taker, but it lacks crucial context. The taker was erratic, frequently pointing his firearm at me, the other units, and the hostage. After assessing the difficult entry point to the trailer, I exited, and the taker aimed his firearm directly at my head. In response, I drew my weapon, re-entered the house, and neutralized the threat.
Failure to Roleplay (FRP) involves unrealistic or impossible actions in the real world. My actions—drawing a firearm and neutralizing a hostage taker—are grounded in real-world scenarios and have occurred many times before. The video fails to capture the negotiation process that lasted around five minutes, during which the suspect's behavior grew increasingly hostile, posing a direct threat to the hostage's life. When negotiations began to crumble, I had no choice but to act.
After the incident, I left the game because I was done for the day. While I could have stayed to explain my actions if questioned by a moderator, I believed my actions were justified and clear. Before the clip, the subject's irrational behavior necessitated my decision to intervene. Although waiting for more units might have been ideal, none were available despite my requests.
